While it involves many of the same characters and is set 20 years after the story ends, Lee and her publishers affirm “Watchman” is not a sequel and was set aside while she wrote “Mockingbird.” The manuscript was rediscovered by her lawyer in 2014, and Lee surprised literature buffs everywhere when she authorized its publication.
